Essor et Chute (de notre civilisation), which means Rise and Fall (of our civilization), retraces the history from the rural exodus, which is the moment when humanity starts to leave the fields by setting up capitalism as we know it, to today, through the different industrialization, wars, crisis. Essor et Chute is the music of a (fictional) film that echoes the ecological and energetic tensions that are currently rising in our society.

Essor et la Chute de notre Civilisation met en musique le film (fictif) retraçant l'histoire humaine depuis l'exode rural qui acte le départ des champs et la naissance du capitalisme tel que nous le connaissons. La musique suit les différentes industrialisations, guerres, crises... jusqu'aux différentes chutes brutales de la biodiversité, des réserves d'hydrocarbures et de la démographie, et l'aller simple dans l'inconnu.

This item was on my extensive wishlist for a long time, somewhere in the bottom half named "forgotten, not forlorn". When it recently appeared on Alan Benjamin's wishlist, I was reminded of this cruel fact. Actually, many of the fans I'm following on Bandcamp, renowned for their excellent taste in music, already purchased it long ago, which unmistakeably says something about the quality of this album. Moreover, it's from the Italian "AltrOck Productions" label, which offers a hefty catalog of superb releases. Should I write more? Well, yes, of course... Fans of complex 70's vintage music employing huge stacks of keyboards will have a lot of fun with this gem from France created by Fabrice Chouette, Patrick Dufour, and Frédéric Chaput.
